Five Stars Hotel in Seville, Spain
la Palmera avennue is a pretty good place to live in; all buildings are asociated to a green area next to them, so we definitively were facing a project where public spaces have to coexist with the new pieces. We also had to coexist with a more difficult element than green spaces: An existing old building on the plot. It had serverd as a mansion to a rich family years ago and now it was used by their descendats. The main idea of the project was trying to extend green areas and public spaces all over the ancient and the new building, with open pieces that let the vacuum enter themselves. Finally, seeing that it could be interesting to conserve the facade of the ancient building, we decided to make different types of holes in the roof, using a new soft piece that landed on our building.

There we see how the new piece influence the current urban space. Also some sketches of the public and private spaces are shown

First drawings where we can see the holes in the facade and the idea of letting the light in through skylights

First working model for checking the impact between heritage and the new piece

Skylights concepts and space relationships

The new roof and the café outside are the main differences that we can appreciate from outside. Inside, the building has been almost competely emptied

In this model we can see the contrast between the old piece and the new one. With especial atention to the holes in facade that let the light in

This is the main space of the Hotel, surrounded by the ancient and the new piece
